For the most part they lined up but not 100% worked in layers and uses wire to connect all the positives and negatives together. Also added wire on the outside to help support the stability.
I loved these, I couldn't stop staring at them during show and tell! The bright LED lights have a very therapeutic effect. I would have loved to have one of these as a night light when I was a kid.
